Sledding in the Parking Lot

It was warm out (in the 30's) last Monday and so we went out into the complex parking lot and I pulled the boys around in the snow. Preston got a kick out of pulling Damien in the sled. It was a good day!

Damien's cute bear snowsuit!! I love the ears!

BURRR!!

So it was like -7 degrees yesterday, BURRR!!!! Actually when it gets to zero, everything below just feels the same, COLD!!! Preston is not a fan of wearing his winter clothes but has learned the hard way that they are necessary. The other day he refused to wear his gloves and so we went outside and not even 2 feet away from the side door of the apartment building he fell face first in the snow. He starts screaming bloody murder because his hands are now cold and wet from the snow, so yea, he doesn't put up much of a fight anymore when it comes to bundling up!!

Christmas Days

We went to the community center's Christmas Days the first Saturday of this month and had a fun time petting the animals and going on a hayride.

Maybe Next Year Santa...

The picture says it all, Preston is still too little to grasp the coolness of Santa... oh well, maybe next year! (at our ward Christmas party last Saturday)

At least their outfits are posh! I love the argyle socks!!

Preston turns 2!!

Preston's Lucky Dog

Preston loves dogs and by far his most favorite is aunt Peggy's dog Lucky. Lucky is a border collie mix and has come to terms with Preston's stalkerish ways and will allow Preston to feed him leftovers and dog treats. Preston misses Lucky and in fact every dog that we come in contact with is dubbed "Lucky!" by Preston leaving the owners a bit confused. Well as an early birthday present Peggy found the cutest plush dog that looks exactly like Lucky and mailed it out for Preston. He is in heaven, so thank you Peggy!!!

Thanksgiving in Las Vegas

This year we met with Jason's side of the family for some turkey and pumpkin pie in Vegas. We flew in Wednesday night and flew out early Monday morning (and when I say early, I mean early!!) We were supposed to leave on Sunday around 2:20pm but missed the 1 hour check in cut off for NWA (lame!!) and so the earliest flight home for us was at 12:50am arriving at 6:30ish in the morning, yea lovely! It wasn't too bad, pros were that we got to hang out with Brittany and Jeff and their kiddies for a couple more hours, security was a breeze, and both boys slept the entire flight. The cons were that it was a red eye and poor Jason had school at 9 am, so straight from the airport to class. Also to make it all the more adventurous and dramatic, our car's battery decided to die in the parking garage and so we had the wonderful misfortune of trying to get a jump at like 7:30 in the morning, and it was 20 degrees out with a nasty wind chill!! But we made it home in one piece and that's all that matters. We had an awesome time with everyone and enjoyed seeing how much the kids have all grown. Thanks for a great Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Having Fun

Damien hanging out in the bumbo chair (shh, it's his early Christmas present, but he won't know the difference!)
Preston playing in Damien's activity saucer (he gets pull out of it a least once a day!)

So Preston wants Damien to play with him and is constantly trying to play catch with him which consists of Damien getting beaned in the head with a ball and Preston telling him to "just catch it." Preston is also obsessed with the activity saucer (I've had to pull him out of it a number of times) and loves to show his little bro how to work all the toys while Damien watches on in amazement. He is also using Damien's bumbo seat and gets stuck in it (quite hilarious) for his afternoon George cartoon. I've gotta get a picture of it...maybe next time!!

3 Months Old

Happy Damien!!

My Cake Adventures

Cake #1. Thr very first, sad isn't it???
Cake #2. Voila! After practice and a much better design this is what you get!

So I am in a cake decorating class that meets once a week for 2 hours. It is my sans-kids activity and creative outlet all rolled into one and I am loving it. I came home from my first class triumphantly declaring that I was going to be a cake decorator when I grow up (though last week I wanted to be a lawyer and the week before that it was a toy maker, so I change my mind quite a bit...) Anyhoo, it has been so much fun learning the techniques behind the pretty cakes you see at the bakery and so I've taken a picture of my cake progress, it's pretty drastic, I thought I was competent with the first but really, it was just a pathetic attempt at something grand. Now the second cake shows potential...

Como Zoo

Preston's paparazzi avoidance: "Please no more pictures!"
Damien just chilling
The seals!!

We have this zoo out here in St. Paul that is free (they ask for voluntary donations and you can choose the amount) and so I bundled up the boys (it's been in the 40's), packed a lunch and swept them off to see the animals. We had a great time, I am thinking that we will become frequent visitors to this zoo! Preston loves animals and didn't mind that some of the animals were off-display for a winter vacation, instead he was enamored with the monkeys, tigers, and seals! He especially liked the seals, though he kept shouting out "look mommy, big fish!" it was cute!

A Flurry of Posts...

Okay, so I have been a slacker and have some posts that should have been put up a while ago, oops!! I've been busy trying to get ready for the holidays and have been shirking my duties!! So without further ado...

Off to Oz

Before we even got out the door, the tin man was not happy. For you see the wicked witch of the west was making him wear his funnel hat and the tin man did not want to wear it.
Eventually the tin man forgave the wicked witch (who incidentally turned into Glenda the good witch after letting him use the Spongebob bucket) and allowed himself to be photographed.
Well, sort of...if you know our tin man, you can see that he is just about to say: "don't do that!"
The little pony was quite content in his costume, it was warm and comfy! Here's a side shot, I really was digging the tail!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL!!
